First Blog Entry… Next, the Magazine.

September 12, 2006 | *Nixed Report

The thing about starting on a new path is this: I don’t know where I am walking at the moment.  I don’t know what I’m getting myself into, but that’s okay, because I find it exciting that I’m headed in a new direction.

Many of us know that there is something missing when watching the normal television news networks and reading the well known newspapers of our area and country.  There is this void that needs to be filled.  While there are those who have risen to the challenge of providing alternative perspectives to today’s well known media outlets, there is still a void that must be filled.

That void is being helpful.  As in how to do this or that.  While The *Nixed Report will be an electronic, online magazine that brings news in a different light to people across the world, the focus is to also inform people so they can improve themselves and their lives.  After the first issue, which will be done very soon, the intention is to research survival methods.  I can hear somebody ask the following:

What are you, crazy?

I might be.  I don’t know yet, but still, come on.  It’s better to be prepared than to act like a chicken with it’s head cut off, right?  Now, on to the first issue of the *Nixed Report Magazine.

  • MS-SHADINESS: Microsoft has been under a suspicious eye once again this year for many things, including the WMF feature (seriously, it was a feature, not a bug in the NT series of Windows), the WGA spyware scandal (ask Brian Livingston….  it is spyware), and more recently, the new antivirus package they are selling.
  • Pokerface: In the course of human events in which things get totally out of whack, music plays an important role.  I examine this protest rock band in depth.
  • Alternative to Windows Updates: Windizupdate works with all Netscape based browsers as well as Opera.  You’ll learn more about the founder in this issue.

And that’s just for starters.  All magazines will be online free of charge.  I’ll set up a Cafepress account and sell CD archives that you can pass out to all of your friends.  Who knows: I may even include some goodies on those CD’s (open source software of course…….).  😉
