Hey remi,

Check your e-mail inbox guy. :D

The whole point with Byfield is that he was making broad statements without specifying. That automatically gets one to wondering what is going on and who he is talking about. It's like lighting a barn on fire and walking away so that others will have to deal with it... not him. However, he appears to have taken comments from other sites and blogs into consideration in a recent blog entry, which I'll respond to shortly.

It wasn't personal. I've seen these broad statements thrown at other people who question other important events in world history. The questions may be quite legitimate. They may have hard core documentation. However, the opposition often does the same thing that Byfield described. The opposition also does everything in their power to discredit anything that could be seen as credible. Take a look at 9/11, The Pearl Harbor Bombing, the Kennedy Assassination, and more for what I'm talking about.

Byfield and myself do not share any history between one another. I simply disagreed with his presentation of ideas.

Yay, front page :P

My only comment would be to remember, as it looks like you do, that it's just as much my right to complain about your post as it is your right to write it.

And, similarly to what I recently posted to LXer, I want to point out that there's a little bit of a compliment hidden in my criticisms of your Newegg story (not the story, itself, just that it got posted to LXer). That compliment goes something like this:

As a reader of LXer, I've become accustomed to a certain quality in the articles that are posted. This *includes* articles posted by you, as much as the articles posted by everyone else. When I read your most recent Newegg article, posted to LXer, I was motivated mostly by the drastic difference in quality between that article and the usual ones I see on LXer. That's not to say that your article didn't have any quality, at all, I just don't think that it was a significant enough story to post for "all to see."

Now, is it your right to post for "all to see?" *Absolutely* But I still think that, as compared to you/LXer's content in the past, the post was pretty lame. Big news to you - it was a big ordeal to you ... but ... to tell the community to think about boycotting a vendor (that Yes, I like, as do many others - which, I'll agree, was part of my motivation in responding) because of your experience?

In my opinion, the proper place for your complaint is in the reviews of the laptop you purchased, on Newegg. And I *do think* that you are/were angry with Newegg, otherwise why would you go on and on and on about how illegal their practices are and boycott them and ... at the very least, you *sounded* mad. I think you were/are, and that's OK, and it's OK to let the whole world know about it ... It's just that *personally* I wouldn't have posted my personal troubles as you did.

*However,* I had no idea LXer had requested a follow-up.

Which ... pretty much makes the rest of my arguments null and void :P

Well then. With my argument shot down ... Thanks for including me on today's LXer front page, in one way or another!

Good post today! Honestly. I don't think I disagreed with anything you wrote. Atleast not your main points ... I don't know any of your history with Bruce Byfield and all that jazz. But - good points. I'm glad I helped you, if only in a small way, to write it.

No hard feelings. Best wishes. (it's been fun)
